Tom Dixon Melt Pendant Cluster
The Tom Dixon Melt Pendant Cluster is a sculptural ceiling pendant by Tom Dixon, part of the Melt range. This multi-pendant ceiling light brings together a larger Melt shade with three Melt Mini shades to form a mesmerising, molten-glass cluster that reads as art and lighting in equal measure.
The design celebrates irregular form and reflection: each shade has an organic, distorted orb shape with a mirror-like finish, suspended at staggered heights from a flat circular ceiling canopy. The arrangement creates visual depth and a constantly changing surface texture as it reflects the room.
Shades are produced using a high‑temperature glass technique to achieve the melted appearance and reflective surface. The smooth, undulating glass and fine suspension cables give the cluster a balanced, minimalist silhouette against the plain canopy.
Light is delivered as ambient, decorative illumination — the piece is intended as a focal pendant that softens and fragments the surrounding space through reflection. The mirror-finish when unlit and the molten-glass effect when lit combine to create an atmospheric centrepiece for living rooms, dining areas or entrance halls.
Installation uses a central ceiling rose that conceals wiring and secures the staggered pendant arrangement. The fitting is rated IP20 and specified for interior use. A three-year manufacturer warranty is supplied with the product.
At Lighting Design Online we treat the Melt cluster as a considered sculptural choice rather than a simple light source. We support projects with clear technical guidance and practical advice on placement, mounting and integration so the product performs as intended. Our aim is a reliable, design-led outcome with professional assurance and project-friendly support.
