Design For The People Aver Pendant
The Design For The People Aver Pendant, designed by Carlo Volf, is a sculptural ceiling pendant that uses a spherical wire cage to present the light source as part of the design. The Aver shown here is finished in a uniform matte black and is intended for interior decorative illumination.
The form is a large, open globe made from thin, vertically oriented metal wires that curve into a seamless sphere. The open bottom allows direct downward light and the repetitive vertical pattern is designed to create a rhythmic shadow play when illuminated.
Construction is a metal wireframe with an integrated cylindrical socket housing and a slender suspension cable. The visible clear globe in the centre sits within the cage and is easy to access for replacement through the bottom aperture.
Light is delivered largely unobstructed thanks to the airy cage; the pendant accepts a standard E27 globe bulb (G95/G125 styles are commonly used) and will reveal the bulb as an aesthetic feature. Bulbs are not included. The fitting can be dimmed when used with a compatible dimmable bulb and dimmer. Note the product is rated IP20 and is for dry, interior zones only.
