Foscarini Twiggy Outdoor Floor Lamp
Foscarini Twiggy Outdoor Floor Lamp by Marc Newson is the outdoor version of the iconic Twiggy range. The design channels the elegant curve of a fishing rod into a dramatic cantilevered lamp, here shown in a deep crimson matte finish and specified for direct downward lighting and outdoor use (IP65).
The lamp’s extreme arcing rod positions the light well beyond its base, enabling an unobstructed illuminated area beneath the shade. The shade is a distinctive grid of manually plied composite ribbons which gives the fixture a sculptural presence while allowing layered light and shadow to animate surrounding surfaces.
Construction combines a fibreglass-based composite rod and woven-ribbon diffuser with an aluminium perimeter frame, a laser-engraved transparent PMMA sheet and an opaline PMMA disc to catch, diffuse and soften the light. The base is made from polyester powder-coated metal for durable resistance to UV, weather and chemicals.
Light is emitted by multichip LEDs installed around the aluminium frame, which also functions as a heatsink. The open grid diffuser and PMMA layers produce a controlled downward light with textured shadowing; the lamp is supplied with a neoprene outdoor cable, an inline transformer on the cable and a Schuko plug. Three ballast weights are provided to fine-tune the diffuser height, and additional arc-extending rods are available on request.
