Foscarini Tress Floor Lamp
Foscarini Tress Floor Lamp is a sculptural floor lamp by Marc Sadler from the Tress range. Its ribbon-like fibreglass and resin construction makes it an immediate focal point while delivering diffused, indirect ambient light for living spaces and reception areas.
The lamp’s slender, columnar form subtly tapers toward the base and is defined by an overlapping network of fibreglass strips that create an open-work lattice. Larger and medium versions are offered; the large model features two separately switched light sources while the medium has a single internal source.
The diffuser is a fibreglass-based composite produced by modelling tape along a mould and finished with an epoxy powder coat. The design includes solid bands at the top and base and an upper parabola made of aluminium; the example shown has a uniform black finish.
The mesh-like structure filters light so the fixture projects a distinctive pattern of light and shadow while maintaining a soft, ambient glow. In the large version the fitted dimmer on the transparent cable adjusts the upper source gradually and acts as an on/off for the lower source; in the medium version the same cable dimmer adjusts the single internal source.
Practical notes: the lamp is supplied with a transparent cable fitted with a dimmer and is rated IP20 for indoor use only. Light-source arrangement differs by size (upper tip and internal base in the large model; internal base in the medium). The product has a one-year manufacturer warranty.
At Lighting Design Online we present the Tress as a considered choice for interiors that need both presence and soft ambience. Our guidance focuses on how the form, material and dimming behaviour will perform in a layered lighting scheme so the outcome is purposeful, confident and enduring.
