Foscarini Tress Grande Pendant
Foscarini Tress Grande Pendant, designed by Marc Sadler, is a large suspension light that combines an open, woven aesthetic with substantial scale. The Tress family is defined by a craft-based process of winding composite ribbon to create solids and voids, producing a distinctive, graphic shade suited to generous interior volumes.
The lamp’s slightly tapered cylindrical form is achieved by a continuous winding of ribbon around a mould, creating overlapping horizontal and diagonal bands with intentional gaps. The range is offered in Greige, Black and White, allowing the shade to read either bold or restrained within a scheme.
Construction uses a fibreglass-based composite material with a varnished finish over a lacquered glass fibre base, giving a lightweight yet structurally rigid shade. The large version includes an internal blown glass diffuser with an acid-etched finish, together with a satin opaline glass upper screen and chromed metal frame.
Light is delivered both downward and as a softened ambient glow through the semi-open weave; the pattern of voids produces a considered play of light and shadow on surrounding surfaces. The design suits living rooms, over dining tables and other spaces where a statement pendant provides layered ambience as well as practical illumination.
Mounting for the large Tress uses three stainless steel suspension cables plus a transparent electrical cord, with the support points attached to the inner rim for a balanced suspension. Ceiling canopy includes a galvanised metal bracket and a glossy chromed ABS cover; canopy decentralisation kits are available for multi-point installations. The fitting is rated IP20.
At Lighting Design Online we present the Tress Grande as a design-first pendant that delivers both presence and performance. Our guidance emphasises placement, finish choice and layer integration so the finished scheme achieves the right ambience and long-term quality without guesswork.
