Foscarini Plass Pendant, designed by Luca Nichetto, is a ceiling suspension light that reinterprets the shape and colours of traditional Venetian glass pearls in a technical material. The pictured body is a smoky grey transparent polycarbonate shell that keeps the bead-like silhouette while allowing the lamp to sing from within.
Formally the Plass pendant is an elongated, ellipsoidal diffuser with vertical fluting and a deliberately imperfect surface that recalls hand-made glass. The effect of the texture and volume is sculptural; the range is offered in two sizes to suit large-scale projects or more compact settings.
Construction uses rotational moulding to produce a seamless, hollow body in transparent polycarbonate. An internal brushed aluminium mount is visible through the shell, and the pendant is suspended on a thin stainless steel cable with a transparent electrical cord. The ceiling canopy includes a galvanised metal bracket and a glossy chromed cover.
The fitting functions as an ambient, diffused light source: the large translucent volume softens the lamp’s output to create a calm ambience while the fluted surface adds subtle play of light and shadow.
