Foscarini Caboche Plus Pendant
The Foscarini Caboche Plus Pendant, designed by Eliana Gerotto and Patricia Urquiola, reinterprets the pendant light as a jewel-like sculpture. Using transparent spheres and a lightweight internal frame, the Caboche Plus is intended to deliver diffused ambient light in interior living and reception spaces.
The pendant is formed from a wide, oblate spheroid shade made of numerous transparent PMMA spheres arranged in a honeycomb pattern. The Caboche Plus has been restyled with new arches and a "twist-lock" attachment system for the spheres; the model is offered in two variants.
Construction combines PMMA spheres with transparent polycarbonate (PC) arches that support the outer surface. The lamp body uses powder-coated steel sheets that house the lighting components, while an aluminium disc acts as a heat dissipator. A small opaline PMMA disc protects the top of the assembly and a satin-finish PMMA diffuser finishes the lower face.
Light is delivered by an integrated double-sided LED board specifically designed by Foscarini and mounted on the aluminium dissipator. The dense arrangement of transparent spheres refracts and diffuses the output to create a sparkling, jewel-like ambience while the satin diffuser ensures even ambient illumination.
Installation is via a three-point suspension of thin steel cables with a white ceiling canopy; the three-point system helps keep the pendant level. A twist-lock fixing secures the spheres to the internal arches and an electric decentralisation kit is available. The fitting is rated IP20 and carries a 1 year warranty.
