Foscarini Birdie Table Lamp
The Foscarini Birdie Table Lamp, designed by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba for the Birdie range, reduces a traditional lamp to its essential form. The monolithic, truncated-cone silhouette and neutral white finish present the lamp as a self-contained, glowing object intended to provide soft, ambient illumination on a table or other flat surface.
Birdie adopts an ‘essence’ design where base, stem and shade read as a single unit. The exterior is a smooth, translucent white with a flat top and a subtle taper; the external body serves as the visible diffuser. The restrained, minimal profile allows the lamp to sit quietly within a variety of interior styles.
Construction pairs a powder‑coated die‑cast zinc alloy base with an opaline injection‑moulded polycarbonate internal diffuser and a translucent injection‑moulded polycarbonate external diffuser. The integrated form conceals the light source and internal technology for a clean aesthetic and consistent surface glow.
Light is delivered as diffused ambient illumination: the entire outer body acts as the diffuser to soften and spread light across nearby surfaces. There are no visible controls on the lamp body; an ON/OFF switch is fitted on the transparent power cable for straightforward operation. The lamp is rated IP20 and intended for indoor, dry environments.
At Lighting Design Online we focus on helping you make the right lighting decision for the room and the scheme. The Birdie table lamp’s pared-back form and considered materials make it a reliable choice for layered lighting schemes where calm, even ambience and material quality matter. We can advise on placement, wiring and any project-specific requirements to ensure the finished result is both beautiful and functional.
